Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) is a glycoprotein hormone naturally produced during pregnancy by placental trophoblastic cells. Structurally similar to luteinizing hormone (LH), HCG binds to LH receptors in the testes, stimulating Leydig cells to produce testosterone. In males, it is commonly used to support endogenous testosterone production and maintain intratesticular testosterone levels during or after suppressive anabolic steroid use.
Stimulates Natural Testosterone Production: Mimics LH to activate testicular testosterone synthesis.
Maintains Testicular Function: Helps preserve testicular volume and intratesticular testosterone during exogenous testosterone administration.
Supports Spermatogenesis: By maintaining intratesticular testosterone, HCG can help sustain sperm production in certain contexts.
Prevents or Reduces Testicular Atrophy: Commonly used alongside TRT or AAS to mitigate suppression-related shrinkage.
Post-Cycle Hormonal Recovery Support: Sometimes used as part of recovery protocols to re-stimulate endogenous hormonal function.
