Human Growth Hormone (HGH), also known as somatropin, is a 191–amino acid peptide hormone naturally produced by the anterior pituitary gland. It plays a central role in growth, cellular regeneration, metabolism, and body composition regulation. HGH exerts many of its effects indirectly through stimulation of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) production in the liver and peripheral tissues.
Increased IGF-1 Production: Stimulates hepatic release of IGF-1, promoting muscle growth, tissue repair, and cellular proliferation.
Enhanced Fat Metabolism: Increases lipolysis (fat breakdown) and preferentially shifts metabolism toward fat utilization for energy.
Muscle & Lean Mass Support: Promotes protein synthesis and nitrogen retention, contributing to lean body mass preservation and growth.
Improved Recovery & Tissue Repair: Supports collagen synthesis, joint health, and recovery from musculoskeletal injury.
Bone Density & Structural Support: Enhances bone mineral density over time and supports skeletal integrity.
Metabolic Regulation: Influences glucose metabolism, fluid balance, and cardiovascular function.
As a peptide hormone, HGH has both anabolic and metabolic effects.
